| Requirements and Responsibilities For Animal Control Officer |
| Responsible for enforcing local animal control ordinances. Responds to service calls and investigates complaints from the public. Catches/rescues stray, injured, misplaced, or dangerous animals and transports animals to the shelter. Issues warnings and citations when violations of animal care and control laws are observed. Provides information to the public on the laws and regulations regarding the treatment, care, and control of animals. Educates the public about animal issues and responsible pet ownership. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience. |
