| Requirements and Responsibilities For Bank Secrecy Manager |
| Manages operations to identify and respond to suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. Monitors transactions, investigates suspicious activity, and files reports with government authorities. Implements data mining and software tools to identify suspicious activity patterns. Monitors investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensures completion of required filings. Keeps abreast with regulatory changes, risk management best practices, and trending methods used by fraud perpetrators. Stays current on banking regulations such as the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and/or other governmental anti-money laundering laws. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
