Hydrologist Job Description

Requirements and Responsibilities For Hydrologist
Responsible for monitoring the movement, characteristics, and quality of water in a given region. Collects samples and conducts measurements on water, including ponds, lakes, rivers, and groundwater. Analyzes collected data including water composition, pollution, erosion, volume, and stream and groundwater flow to create accurate models, predict trends, and help develop solutions to problems. Uses a broad collection of data and an understanding of the region's water to provide guidance to new initiatives, projects, or regulations that could make a significant impact. This could include projects or regulations involving irrigation, waste water, industrial waste, or power plants. May require a bachelor's degree in hydrology or geology or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience.
